Sukhothai historical park covers the ruins of Sukhothai, capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries.
The city walls form a rectangle with 193 ruins on 70 square kilometers of land. You can find remains of the royal palace and twenty six temples, the Wat Mahathat is the largest.Other famous temples are Wat Sa Si and Wat Si Chum.
The park was declared World heritage Site by UNESCO on December 12, 1991 as part of the Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns of Kamphaengphet and SI satchanalai.
Before we proceeded to Chiang Mai we had a buffet lunch in a restaurant set in a garden.Sorry i forgot the name but most tourists visiting the Park usually eats here.
