DWARFED BY MOTHER MARY|BAYYO, BONTOC

On our way to Banaue from Sagada we had a quick stop at Barangay Bayyo the border village of the provinces of  Ifugao and Mountain Province. There at the curved side of the road stands the tallest statue of Mother Mother I had ever seen so far.

On the small park where the giant statue is a nice look-out to the beautiful  tree covered mountains. I could only utter "thank you Lord" for the gift of nature my eyes was feasting on.
It was also in this place where I tasted the most delicious fried banana wrapped in spring rolls. And I was able to be in two places at the same

Some few kilometers from here is the Bay-yo rice terraces. A view deck was erected along the national highway going to or from  Bontoc. Like most of the other rice terraces, these too are already centuries old.

As we go on further our trip, we can't help but notice that some of the rice paddies were already near destruction. The land was so dry that it would not be possible to plant. According to my travel mate cum professor on  why  the dying rice terraces is that  the newer generations are now more interested in living  and working in the metro done tend the lands. But one good news is, some groups are now  restoring  this centuries old agricultural wonder.
Though some parts have been turn into residential lots , the remaining laddered rice paddies   is still magnificent. Rummage through the photos below and wonder its beauty.
